The Most Impressive Park of Barcelona

Antonio Gaudi is my favorite architect. Why?
Because he made the most interesting, playful and colorful works and he simply let loose his imagination.
If you already had the chance to visit Barcelona, you agree with me.

The whole story starts with a failed project.
Eusebi Güell, the famous industrialist, acquired a seventeen hectare plot with a marvelous view of Barcelona. Güell instructed his friend Antoni Gaudí to work on the garden village project. Güell planned 60 villas, but only 5 buildings were finished. Güell wasn’t able to sell a single house.
Gaudí lived in the park until his father died. Now the house is Casa Museu Gaudí.

Parc Güell is one of the world’s most beautiful parks.
The park was opened to the public in 1922 and declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1984.

The park looks like a fairy tale.
You will be fascinated by the colorful main staircase, the fanciful pavilions, the serpentine bench, the Sala Hipóstila and the Gaudí Museum. The park has beautiful flower-bedecked gardens. Gaudí planted Mediterranean species, which require less maintenance and water.
Parc Güell is the perfect place to spend some hours in a peaceful and amazing environment.Park Güell Park Güell DSC03113DSC03119Park Güell Park Güell Park Güell DSC03128

  1. Seven properties built by the architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926) in or near Barcelona testify to Gaudí’s exceptional creative contribution to the development of architecture and building technology in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These monuments represent an eclectic, as well as a very personal, style which was given free reign in the design of gardens, sculpture and all decorative arts, as well as architecture. The seven buildings are: Parque Güell; Palacio Güell; Casa Mila; Casa Vicens; Gaudí’s work on the Nativity façade and Crypt of La Sagrada Familia; Casa Batlló; Crypt in Colonia Güell.

  2. Gaudi! Love it. Intensely fabulous creativity. Basically what one thinks of when someone says ‘creativity coming out of his ears’ only solid, architechtural genius. GAH!
Thank you for the fav as well. I am glad you enjoyed my pic.
